Central New York artist and decorative painter Gail Demi is passionate about her work. While she has been professionally faux finishing since 1995, she has always been recognized and respected as an artist in her own right. From grade school through her education as an Illustration major at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, PA, creating artwork has been her main focus and vocation in life. Her exposure to art history courses throughout high school and college rounded out her artistic education. Extensive travel throughout the U.S., which includes visits to many major art museums and galleries, informs her work and fuels her passion. Trips to Paris, Venice and Florence inspired her love of ancient architecture and aged finishes. Intricate still lifes and realistic illustrations in various mediums were the focus of her fine and commercial artworks, which she produced while raising her two sons. These won her freelance jobs as well as prizes in any juried show she entered.
After her children were grown, she took on decorative painting and interior design, and over the years has honed her vision and skills to translate to wall murals, decorative finishes and painted furnishings. Her knowledge and proficiency allow her to duplicate virtually any painting style, from the super-real to the abstract. She is an expert colorist, able to match nearly any hue, whether it be in artist\'s oils or latex house paints. Whatever she is doing or wherever she goes, Gail is visually analyzing color interaction, interesting compositions, perspective, unusual details and tangents, and light and shadow. She is constantly taking photos to use as reference and inspiration.
Gail works easily with clients to realize their vision and is eager to make suggestions, do sketches and produce samples to ensure that the final product is exactly what is best for the space.
